Doubt’s Gravity

I looked in a cave and saw spikes sticking up and down, made of rock like stone icicles hanging from the ceiling, and piles of upside down icicles sitting on the floor. An angel appeared beside me and asked if I wanted to look inside and find out more about these structures. I said yes, please show me more.

We walked inside and it was difficult to walk around because of the icicles on the floor. Once we were inside we found a clearing where we could see these structures all around us. The angel lit up the cavern and all the stone spikes gave the room a strange feeling.

“Do you want to know what these are?” The angel asked.

“What are they?” I responded.
He said “These are the structures of faith and fear and how they form under the influence of doubt. The hanging spikes are evidence of the children of God as they cling to God’s word. The spikes on the floor are evidence of the fears of Mankind. Both are growing larger.

I thought about the angel’s response for a moment and then asked “If the spikes on the ceiling are faith, then why are they getting bigger and moving down?”

He didn’t answer but motioned for me to follow him. He led me deeper inside the cave and the his light grew dimmer.

As we walked though, the light started becoming unnecessary because there was a new light shining from deeper inside the cave. When we turned to the left at the last crevice, the cave opened up and we found ourselves inside a much larger room where the rock was all white and instead of spikes hanging and sitting, there were much larger pillars all smooth and polished looking.

The angel spoke: “The spikes outside were formed by faith, as people cling desperately to the word of God, but are pulled down by the force of doubt. The spikes on the floor are formed by fear but they rise by the drawing power of God’s love. But in here, these pillars are formed out of a pure faith where doubt has no influence. These pillars also represent faith but since there is no doubt in the hearts of these, the pillars are able to grow in both directions without being deformed. The ceiling in here does not need the support of these pillars, nor do the pillars require the strength of their bond to the ceiling… or floor, but they exist together anyway as a testament to the unity between the Bride and the Lamb.”

Before I could ask any more questions, we were back outside in daylight.

The angel instructed once more “Doubt has been a powerful force but its influence is not supposed to exist in the Kingdom of Peace. You must convince the people to develop their faith to the extent that the laws of doubt are abolished here.”

Start here…” he said as he pulled out a round ball from inside his robe and held it out to me. As I reached for it, the ball became like a computer monitor and I could look inside it. I saw your face, but only part of it was there. Your one cheek and one eye were missing… not grotesquely, just… there was nothing at all, like part of the picture was gone. I kept looking but the angel told me I would not find the missing pieces here… I would need to learn to overcome doubt myself so I could teach you how to stop listening to doubt’s voice as well.

When I looked up again, I was transported to a sea and I had to tread water. As I waited there, I heard a voice speak again… it said only “Swim, you will not overcome by remaining still.”

Glory & Deception Part 2

You took another few steps toward the strange box but the light was so fierce that even your eyelids would not block out its intensity and you had to turn back. Then you noticed that you were unable to see as everything else had become so intensely dark that nothing was visible to you. To orient yourself you decided to walk toward the outside wall and feel your way around until you got back to the door.

As you reached the wall, instead of feeling smooth marble with fine elegant picture frames, you feel sandy clay walls, dusty and crumbling and where you remembered a painting’s frame should be, you felt an old weathered barn board frame instead. For some instinctive reason, you grabbed the rugged frame and lifted it off the wall and threw the painting on the floor.

The rooms light became every so slightly more visible.

Using your sense of touch, you walked along the wall feeling for the next painting and when you reached that one, again you unhooked it and threw it onto the floor near the middle. As you continued around the room removing every painting, the room continues to get brighter and brighter until you can see everything as clear as day.

Finally there is a single painting left on the wall but this one still has a beautiful ornate golden frame. You examine and picture and see that although you are in it, the picture is actually one of a very distinguished man dressed in a royal robe and he has his arm around your shoulder. You are picking flowers from a field and giving them to him. The Man is large and very much the centre of the picture. This time when you try to unhook the painting, it is immovable.

You leave it and turn back toward the centre of the room.

Instead of a wooden armoire, you now see a strange four sided tower, with large white marble arches in each wall. But looking through the arches, instead of seeing the other side of the small tower, you see the outside world. As you walk toward the arches, you can see the man from the painting waiting for you outside in a large beautiful garden with majestic mountains in the background and a perfectly blue cloudless sky above him.

As soon as you walk through the arches everything behind you disappears and you suddenly become 10 feet tall and your body has transformed into a glimmering alabaster sheen. You are completely covered in shiny clean white robes and there is a blue, purple and red ring on your right hand.

The man invites you toward him and you see he is motioning to you to sit in a throne which he is standing beside. As you step forward and sit down, he hands you a beautiful golden rod with a diamond cap on the end and says, “I’ve been waiting for you. It’s time for you to take over the business.”

Glory & Deception Part 1

There is an alcove leading into a building, and in the alcove are very ornate works of trim casing the tall double doors which are open and inviting toward larger rooms inside. Just to the left of the doors is a small hutch on which sits some bread and cakes with butter, silverware, jams and preserves and some goblets beside the decanter of grape juice.

I watched you walk over to the table and pick up a piece of bread, and one of the doors closed tight with a slam. You looked up and saw its mate was still open.

You put the bread back down and reached for the decanter, and the other door began to swing closed so you pulled your hand back.

Without taking any of the food, you rushed into the next room, not risking the doors closing completely. In this room was more ornate wood work, with rich red velvet curtains and burnt amber reddish wall coverings. There were tables all around the room with beautiful gold and silver goblets, plates and other dish ware, as well as knick knacks that had been finely crafted. On some of the tables around the outside walls you could also see gold and silver coins stacked beside the dishes, as well as rings, necklaces and other fine jewellery.

You stood in the middle of the room and from there you could see through the next doorway into an even larger room that appeared to shine with white and grey marble. This time you watched the door acutely as you slowly took one step toward the treasures, and noticed the slightest move of the door on its hinges. Changing direction you again turned and walked quickly through that door as well.

Now in the marble room you looked around and every wall had a picture of yourself hanging in a large frame that showed you in some type of victorious conquest… in one you were painted on the top of a mountain, another showed you working in a laboratory with a look of triumph on your face and a glowing beaker in your hand. You strolled toward each one and began to thoroughly enjoy all your works. Others showed you with various celebrities enjoying all types of tourist attractions, or sporting shows. The more you walked the more pictures appeared.

It dawned on you that there didn’t appear to be any exits from this room and you turned toward the middle of the large hall to see a small wooden armoire type of box in the middle. Of course the doors were all tightly closed. As you walked toward it a brighter and brighter light shone in front of it until you were no longer able to look at it for fear of blindness.
